Ron Blalack, 71, of Russellville, died Thursday, October 7, 2010, at his
home. He was born February 16, 1939, in Hector the son of the late Troy T.
and Robbie Poteete Blalack. He worked with his father in National Home and
Auto in Russellville and during that time served in the Air National Guard.
He received his Sociology degree from Arkansas Tech and then worked for the
Arkansas Employment Security Division. During this time he received his
Masters in Employment Counseling from UCA. He then worked for Contel and
retired from GTE in 1997. He was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic
Church and the Knights of Columbus. Ron was active in civic and charitable
activities and was always willing to help when called upon. He was deeply
devoted to his family, grandchildren and extended family.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Blalack of Russellville; two
daughters and son-in-laws, Lezlie and Tim Arnold of Russellville, Michelle
and Russell Roberts of Dover, grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, and Lydia
Arnold, Emily and Amanda Roberts; extra special children in his life include
Naomi, Matthew, and their mother, Zoraida and numerous other dear relatives
and friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 11, 2010, at the Atkins
Church of the Assumption, Father Ernest Hardesty and Father Clayton Gould
officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 PM, Sunday at Lemley Funeral
Chapel with a Rosary service following at 7:15 PM. Burial will be in Atkins
Catholic Cemetery by Lemley Funeral service
Pallbearers are Keith Wills, Mike Huddleston, Craig Vrable, Ron Cornell,
Damian Durban and Harold Zimmer.
