Class 56 Newsletter

April 2007
return to Class of 56 home page

Dear Classmate,

What a GREAT reunion!  If you were there, you know what I mean.  If you weren’t, it wasn’t just your loss.  We know we can’t top the 50th; it’s far too special, but how would you like the opportunity to meet more often?  Have a class website?  Have a class newsletter?  The committee has met and we’re making plans to try all three.  Success will depend upon classmate interest.  Consider this your first newsletter.

WEBSITE

Randal Crouch, Class 58 has a Russellville website and he has designed a link for several classes, most recently ours.  www.go2russellville.com

Click: RHS classmates page. Click: Class 1956.  Click: Homecoming 2006 under the picture.  He has posted several pictures from Shirley Duvall Harrison and is just waiting for more information from us.  You will be our source of information.

NEWSLETTER

We hope to keep everyone apprised of family events, changes in e-mail addresses, phone numbers and home addresses, illnesses etc. etc. etc.  (If someone is ill we would want to notify immediately so a special e-mail will go out.)  Those without e-mail will receive the newsletter by regular mail and may notify us with their information in the same manner or by phone.

YEARLY EVENTS

We are planning for 3 simple events per year.  June offers a great time to be outdoors.  October is a favorite as there are so many people in town for the RHS/TECH Homecomings.  February we will want to be cozy inside and is just evenly spaced between the others.   A larger “reunion” can be planned as classmates interest dictates.  This seems to offer several options of choice for those who may come to town only once a year or who no longer have ties here, yet does not overburden those closer.

COST

The class has some funds available and will cover any reservation charges, cost of postage and supplies (paper, ink etc.)  Most events will be planned around meals so attendees will pay for that.  There will be some minimal cost involved with the website.

Overshadowing all of us is the knowledge that we aren’t getting any younger.  Our “want to” and our “can do” are often on opposite sides, and time is flying by.
